Prophecies Fullifilled By Jesus Christ! Empty
PostSubject: Prophecies Fullifilled By Jesus Christ!   Prophecies Fullifilled By Jesus Christ! EmptyWed Jan 06, 2010 4:48 pm

Some thing I was never taught throughout my entire catholic school career about Jesus was the correlation between the Old and The New Testament of the Bible. Let this be an intruiging adventure into learning who Christ was and why He came to the world for US!! I included some verses not to suggest they are more important, but there is alot of scripture, and I found some to be enthralling and captivating. This is a long post and not for the faint at heart. Happy Reading!

"Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Luke 23:44

Born of a virgin (Isaiha 7:14)

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."

(Matthew 1:21-23)
"And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,”which is translated, “God with us!"

A descendant of Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3; 22:18; Matthew 1:1; Galatians 3:16)

Of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10; Luke 3:23, 33; Hebrews 7:14)

Of the house of David (2 Samuel 7:12-16; Matthew 1:1)

Born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2)
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

Matthew 2:1
"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,"

Luke 2:4-7
"Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."

Taken to Egypt (Hosea 11:1; Matthew 2:14-15)

Herod´s killing of the infants (Jeremiah 31:15; Matthew 2:16-18)

Anointed by the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11:2)
"The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD."

(Matthew 3:16-17)
"When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Heralded by the messenger of the Lord (John the Baptist) (Isaiah 40:3-5; Malachi 3:1; Matthew 3:1-3)

Would perform miracles (Isaiah 35:5-6)
"Then the eyes of the blind shall be open,And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert."

(Matthew 9:35)
"Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."

Would preach good news (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:14-21)

Would minister in Galilee (Isaiah 9:1; Matthew 4:12-16) Would cleanse the Temple (Malachi 3:1; Matthew 21:12-13)

Would first present Himself as King 173,880 days from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25; Matthew 21:4-11)

Would enter Jerusalem as a king on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9; Matthew 21:4-9)

Would be rejected by Jews (Psalm 118:22)
"The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone."

(I Peter 2:7-10)
"Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,“ The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,”and“ A stone of stumblingAnd a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

Die a humiliating death (Psalm 22; Isaiah 53) "Both Full Chapters, but I include a few excerpts, I recommend reading both completely"

Psalm22:1,2,6-8,16-18,
My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.

But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
“He trusted[b] in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They pierced[c] My hands and My feet;
I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.

Isaiha 53:4,5

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

"More so, His death involved different afflictions that had to take place"

1. REJECTION (Isaiah 53:3)
"He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him."

(John 1:10-11)
"He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him."
(John 7:5) "For even His brothers did not believe in Him."
(John 7:48) "Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?"

2.BETRAYAL BY A FRIEND (Psalm 41:9); "Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted,Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me."

(Luke 22:3-4)
"Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. 4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them."

(John 13:18)
“I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’'

3.SOLD FOR 30 PIECES OF SILVER (Zechariah 11:12)Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

(Matthew 26:14-15)
"Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver."

4.SILENCE BEFORE HIS ACCUSERS (Isaiah 53:7)"He was oppressed and He was afflicted,Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth."

(Matthew 27:12-14)
"And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?” But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly."

5.BEING MOCKED (Psalm 22: 7-Cool "All those who see Me ridicule Me;They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,“He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

(Matthew 27:31)"And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified."

6.BEATEN (Isaiah 52:14)
"Just as many were astonished at you,So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men"

(Matthew 27:26)"Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified."

7.SPIT UPON (Isaiah 50:6)
"I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting."

(Matthew 27:30) "Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head."

8.PEIRCING HIS HANDS AND FEET(Psalm 22:16)
"For dogs have surrounded Me;The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.They pierced My hands and My feet"

(Matthew 27:31) "And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified."

9.CRUCIFIED WITH THEIVES (Isaiah 53:12)
"Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors."

(Matthew 27:38) "Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left."

10.PRAYING FOR HIS PERSECUTORS (Isaiah 53:12)

(Luke 23:34) "Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”And they divided His garments and cast lots."

11.PEIRCING HIS SIDE(Zechariah 12:10)
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn."

(John 19:34) "But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out."

12.GIVEN GALL AND VINEGAR TO DRINK (Psalm 69:21)"They also gave me gall for my food,And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink."

(Matthew 27:34) "they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink."

(Luke 23:36) "The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine"

13.NO BROKEN BONES (Psalm 34:20) "He guards all his bones;Not one of them is broken."

(John 19:32-36)
"Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken."

14.BURIED IN A RICH MAN'S TOMB (Isaiah 53:9)
"And they made His grave with the wicked But with the rich at His death,Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth."

(Matthew 27:57-60) "Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed."

15.GAMBLE FOR HIS GARMENT (Psalm 22:18) "They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots."

(John 19:23-24)" Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic.
